Welcome to the April 2023 HLSA Website Administrators Newsletter.

This quarterly newsletter provides updates, tips and tricks, and important changes to the HLSA’s website and communications platform, AlumniMagnet.

Email Subscription Tips & Troubleshooting

The HLS Alumni Relations Staff are pleased to introduce the new Email Subscriptions: Tips & Troubleshooting guide for AlumniMagnet. This comprehensive guide can help alumni in your Club/SIG community ensure they receive your emails. Highlights include:

  • Linked tutorials for the five most popular mail clients: Gmail, AOL, Outlook, Apple Mail, and Yahoo
  • Screenshots of how to check and update email preferences
  • Whitelisting Instructions that can be shared with a subscriber’s local IT department to ensure employer firewalls do not block HLSA emails

Sharing Email Content & Preventing Unsubscribes

Two new features to the Newsletter tool have been developed for easier viewing and sharing of your Club/SIG emails.

  • View in Browser will add a link to the top of your emails, allowing recipients to view the email in their preferred web browser. This feature is recommended for emails with several links and photos for easier viewing.
  • Share With a Friend will add a link to the top of emails to allow recipients to instantly generate a new email to share your email content with a friend or colleague. This feature makes sharing your communications more straightforward. 

Here is an overview of these features, available in Edit mode on Newsletters.

In addition, a recent system-wide update enhanced the Unsubscribe link and landing page. Users will now see the email address they are unsubscribing from your Club/SIG Newsletter, which will help reduce erroneous unsubscribes from forwarded emails.

Summer Events with Students - May 15

The HLS Alumni Relations Office and Dean of Students Office plan to email current students the week of June 5th to advertise the week of June 5th events to advertise HLSA events open to current students.

All Clubs & SIGs wishing to be included in this email must have their event and registration details posted on their AlumniMagnet site by Monday, May 15. The QuickRSVP function is recommended for collecting registrations.

Important Dates

The HLSA Clubs and SIGs Newsletter tool will be unavailable during the dates below due to an increased volume of email messages from the University and Harvard Law School:

June 16 – June 30, 2023

The HLS Alumni Relations Office has a busy operations schedule for the remainder of the fiscal year. Please know staff responses may be delayed during the following peak event times: 

April 19 – April 24, 2023
June 12 – June 16, 2023

Please plan and schedule your communications accordingly. The Support Tracker will continue to be available during these times.
